Since the end of the 19th century, SUEZ has built expertise aimed at helping people to constantly improve their quality of life by protecting their health and supporting economic growth. With an active presence on five continents, SUEZ and its 90,000 employees strive to preserve our environment’s natural capital: water, soil, and air. SUEZ provides innovative and resilient solutions in water management, waste recovery, site remediation and air treatment, optimizing municipalities’ and industries’ resource management through “smart” cities and improving their environmental and economic performance.
Our positive impact
SUEZ has a wide range of innovative solutions with a positive impact on the environment including smart digital ones such as the Circular Chain, the circular economy blockchain or Origin.earth, our cutting-edge service enabling cities to monitor and reduce CO2 emissions
CircularChain leverages secure information storage and transmission technology to provide reporting on all wastewater treatment plant transactions. This applies throughout the organic matter value chain, from sludge production to its return to the soil. Such technology ensures full transparency. SUEZ’s SludgeAdvanced® portal offers an easy-to-use interface and provides information to the various stakeholders. Annual French sewage sludge recovery avoids producing 6,000 tonnes of synthetic nitrogen in addition to 8,000 tonnes of phosphorus mineral extraction. Land application of sludge drives a virtuous cycle, supporting agriculture, helping fight against soil organic matter depletion and limiting transport as well as water prices. It also reduces wastewater treatment’s and agriculture’s carbon footprints. The Origins.earth project, launched in 2017 by SUEZ, aims to explore existing scientific solutions and climate finance mechanisms. In 2019, the project Origins.Earth provides the startinggrounds for the creation of Origins. In 2020, the Origins.Earth ecosystem is definitively materialized through the official partnerships with the Laboratory of Climate and Environmental Sciences, the City of Paris and the Paris Climate Agency. Our ambition? Set up an atmospheric measurement network in Paris and the Ile-de-France, before extending our solutions to other communities and helping them achieve their low-carbon targets.
