ChangeNOW 2021

Of all the periodicals published by the United Nations and its specialized agencies, The UNESCO Courier has always held first place in terms of the number of readers and the variety of its audience. These were the words of the American journalist Sandy Koffler, founder and first editor-in-chief of the magazine, which has accompanied UNESCO's activities since 1948. Over the years, the Courier has evolved considerably, both in terms of content and form. But it has always remained faithful to its original mission: to promote UNESCO's ideals, to serve as a platform for dialogue between cultures, and to provide a forum for international debate. The magazine, available online since 2006, is constantly adapting to the changing needs of its readers around the world. The Courier is published online in the six official languages of the Organization - Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian and Spanish - as well as in Catalan, Korean, Esperanto and Portuguese. The reissue of this historic journal in 2017, thanks to the generous support of the People's Republic of China, is much more than the resumption of an editorial history: it is a precious opportunity to renew our commitment to its founding values.
