Tour du Valat
An agricultural engineer with a master's degree in biology, Jean Jalbert has had a diversified career, managing several organizations at the interface between environmental and agricultural issues. In 1994, he joined the Tour du Valat, a research institute for the conservation of Mediterranean wetlands. Appointed Director of Conservation four years later, then Director General in 2004, he deploys the strategy of the Tour du Valat at the Mediterranean basin scale. He manages a multidisciplinary team of about 80 people and leads a program mobilizing high-level research to develop and implement conservation strategies, but also to feed public policies in favor of wetlands. He is a stubborn advocate of reconciliation between Man and Nature, of a profound modification of our societies for a respectful relationship with the living world.
