Head of Social Business & Microfinance Europe
Maha Keramane joined BNP Paribas in 2006 after two brief international experiences - that highly contributed to her interest in social/development issues - Microfinance at the WorldBank in Washington and Export finance in Brazil, and a four-year experience as an external auditor and consultant for Deloitte. She started in BNP Paribas in 2006 in the Risk department, in charge of creating new rating policies to comply with regulatory and credit risk issues. Since 2012, she is Head of Social Business & Microfinance for Europe at BNP Paribas. Maha creates and develops a dedicated framework and support strategies for Social Enterprises within the Bank, called Act For Impact, building and implementing specific methodologies to analyze Social Businesses within the Group (credit policy, Social impact measurement, impact investing...) and developing new financial products and services such as Social Impact Bonds. After the French call for SIB projects in 2016, she designed and structured with her team the very first French Social Impact Bond with the Ministry of Finance, dealing with job reintegration in rural areas, launched in 2017. Since then, she structured with her team various other Impact Bonds in France and the world and worked with EIF to build a dedicated investment fund for SIBs in Europe, launched in 2020.
